QuantiFERON-Plus test

 

Intended Use

The QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus (QFT-Plus) assay is an in vitro diagnostic test using a peptide cocktail simulating ESAT-6 and CFP-10 proteins to stimulate cells in heparinized whole blood. Detection of interferon-γ (IFN-γ) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is used to identify in vitro responses to those peptide antigens that are associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.

 

Introduction:

- The gray cap tube (Nil) serves as the negative control and adjusts for background levels of IFN-γ.

- The green cap tube (TB1) and yellow cap tube (TB2) assess the interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) response to TB-specific antigens.

- The purple cap tube (Mitogen) serves as a positive control, which can be useful to indicate the immune status of the person being tested and that correct blood handling has occurred.
